ASRock Instant Boot is an innovative application able to speed up boot times by empowering a versatile technology that also saves energy, as an added benefit.
The principle used in ASRock Instant Boot is mainly based on S3 / S4 ACPI, which are typically used to trigger power modes such as hibernation, sleep and standby in a fast manner.
ASRock Instant Boot manages to take advantage of this technology and to extend it to shutdown operation as well, drastically reducing boot times, to the advantage of any user.
However, ASRock Instant Boot can be run only on compatible models, which can be reviewed at this link. Use with a processor belonging to an unsupported series is not recommended.
Despite accomplishing such a complex purpose, the software adopts a rather simple interface and requires very little effort from the user. When launched, it displays a set of three main options, which allow you to choose between fast or regular mode, or to disable it altogether.
The regular mode uses the S4 ACPI and is able to boot your system in about 20 seconds (from a shutdown state), while with the fast mode, you will be able to see your desktop in about four seconds.
Note that in order for any of these to work, the system must have a single user-account, which cannot be password protected. Otherwise, the purpose of the software won't be accomplished at all.
ASRock Instant Boot encases a very interesting technology that effortlessly boots your computer in a superfast mode. However, it has yet to meet a point in development where it can support multiple password protected accounts.
